As we are planning to start a school in our city, I (and Aijaz Ahmed, GPRF coordinator) had an opportunity to visit Bangalore, see Al-Basheer International School and attend one-day program on “The Role of Muslims in the field of education”.

Al Basheer International School - Bangalore:
This was my visit to ‘International’ School and I overwhelmed seeing the atmosphere of the school. Girls and boys are separated with proper hijab, lunch timing, playing schedule, etc. The given moral values add another feather to the cap of the students apart from the curriculum which is taught in the class rooms.

The school has its own playing ground wherein the staffs and students play in their respective timing which makes even the staff of the school as a student and gives them a fresh feeling. The prayer hall separated both for boys and girls enhance them spiritually which makes the students offer Salah in the prescribed time in discipline. Separate staff rooms for males and females helped them to be flexible and observe proper hijab, giving them the feeling of peace which helps the work-flow in the Islamic perspective. The school has only 24 students in one classroom and has no less than 17 school-vans reaching across the city.

GRPF and ICGF members along with Brother Abdul Lateef Atear (from ILM Foundation, Hyderabad) were over joyed when Brother Umar Shariff introduced us to the students of III standard. The confidence of the students was marvelous and the skills which they got nurtured in Al Basheer International clearly exhibited how carefully these diamonds were cut and polished from all the sides.

When Brother Umar Shariff called the students to perform skit which was performed in last year’s Annual Day. Majority of the students rushed out of the benches and performed the skit so beautifully that astounded us to see them recollecting the steps and perform without hesitation. May Allah bless Br. Umar Shariff and his entire family and team for the hard work and sacrifices they are giving in the cause of Allah.

We used to say that we are in need Muslims’ schools and colleges; then we realize that these institutions did not help the community in any manner but was another form of a profit making business. Then we thought of making Islamic Schools but we found that complete Islam was not there in these schools. Al-Basheer International is not only Islamic School but they have Islam in their school. The Principal of the school rightly said “We don’t want Islamic school rather we are in need of Islam in our schools”; we govern completely by the rules of the creator and implement it in our schools and day-to-day life.

Many more things are to be said about Al-Basheer International but I am not able to pen it here. Br. Adam gave us the required information and answered our counter questions to make us understand.

There were few people whom I could recollect after coming back from Bangalore.

Br. Shaikh Muhammad, Principal of Al Basheer International, a fabulous personality, younger brother of Br. Umar Shariff, delivered a wonderful speech regarding Islamic schools and said even a driver of the school van, a sweeper, each and every one working for the school must follow Islamic guidelines. We cannot accompany or stay with drunkard, murderer, rapist, etc. similarly we cannot stay or accompany with those who commit Shirk – the greatest crime; even a person has thread (amulet) tied on his/her hand (or neck), he/she is not entitled to become a worker at Al Basheer International – Subhanallah.

Br. Abdul Lateef Atear (ILM Foundation, Hyderabad), presented about various Muslim scientist in early era of development; the various scientists who had emerged studied Quran, Ahaadeeth, Fiqh, Seerah, etc. and pondered upon the various Quranic ayaat and Prophetic sayings which helped in their successful research and come up with astounding results. The question remains unanswered (or not fully answered), why are not these scientists coming up in this century?

Br. CMN Saleem, from Tamil Nadu, an educationist, presented the History of Muslims in depth. The beautiful presentation about the great history of Muslims shook the entire audience. He presented the slides in one by one till the British rule in India and explained how our real education system was replaced by the existing education system by T.B. Macaulay. He also quoted Maccaulay saying that he did not find any beggar across the Muslim ruled India (which included Pakistan and Afghanistan). The presentation is wroth attending again and again.

Br. Mujeeb Khan, speaker on Leadership, has spoken very well on self-development which motivated the audience who gathered a day before the program in DIET (Discover Islam Education Trust). With his various live examples he thrilled his audience and made them realize that until they do change their attitude Allah will not change them. He also spoke on Leadership in his talk during the program by quoting various motivational true stories. He electrified the audience a day before as well as in the program. The crux of his presentation was to utilize the present situation to make future bright. We are in need of the speakers like Mujeeb Khan who can speak on motivational talks based on Quran and Sunnah.

Br. Dawood Vaid, (CEO, Buruj Realisation, Mumbai), another motivational speaker who dares to change the rules of the game; I was outside the auditorium when he was speaking and could not control to stay there. His powerful speech made me to come in and sit till he finishes. I overjoyed listening to him. Don’t miss the chance to listen him when he is in your city.

Nisaar Nadiadwala, a famous writer on Facebook, no need to describe him he is well known among us. He threw lights on the teachers’ development and gave some advices regarding the development of Islamic schools. We spent some time outside the auditorium for the casual talk and to discuss future projects.

Br. Ashraf Ali Khan, Al Buruj International School – Bangalore, too was jolly and friendly. He is a revolutionary person. We spent time on dinner table discussing various issues. I didn’t get much time to spend with him as I had to come back to soon because of busy schedule.

Br. Moinuddin Ibn Nasrullah, (ICGF, Ahmedabad), as you all know a dynamic speaker of Islam and socio-politics shook the audience with his research and presentation. The topic “Safronization of Education” was very beautifully handled by him. (Watch him on Khaas MulaQaat Da'ee ke saath)

Even Br. Zaid Hussein of Alhikamah Institute was one of the good speakers who have command in his speech apart from the material he collects for his speech. I met him after his talk but could not interact with him as I was in hurry to go back to my native place.

Br. Umar Shariff, (DIET – Bangalore), a personality which do not need any introduction; Jolly in nature, down-to-earth as a personality, very humble and clear in his speech, handsome and bright in his appearance, collective and assertive in his leadership. He has combo of good qualities in him. Spirit of doing something not only for Islam but for the entire humanity made him to organize programs in past and stunning projects in hand. He is the person of commitment and forgives very easily for the sake of Allah. He knows to tackle the complicated situations beautifully. The leadership qualities found in him can handle other leaders and have strength to create more productive leaders for the society.

I haven’t met a person like him in my life. The dedication, confidence, sacrifice and what not… He promotes those things which are beneficial for the society, no matter who does it. We have seen for the first time a school advertising another school. This shows how clean he is in his heart. This era is in need of another Umar. I pray that Br. Umar Shariff emerges as Umar III. (Watch him on Khaas MulaQaat Da'ee ke saath)

This tour is one of the memorable and most important of my life wherein I pre-pond our plan of opening a school. In’sha’Allah with the help of Allah we will soon initiate the work of establishing a school in our beloved city Belgaum.

I thank Br. Moinuddin Ibn Nasrullah who forced me to accompany him to Bangalore. The same day I landed to Belgaum from Delhi in evening and we left to Bangalore at night; and in between we had to shoot for our show which will be coming soon, In’sha’Allah.

I urge you all to remember us in your valuable supplication and pray for our success.
